Stories: Amazing Sketches of Hope, Failure, Love, and Redemption
Why is that when the people of Biblical times wanted to explain themselves, the world, or what they had come to believe about God, they told stories?
Why does our society give so much attention to movies - seeing them, seeing them twice, talking about them, keeping up with the people who act in them, wanting to know who's directing them, and waiting to see who's going to win awards for them?
Why do people love to follow sports all the way to the championship game, following every twist and turn of fate during the process of getting to the final winner?
Because people like good stories. Stories move us, shape us, inspire us, and give our lives meaning. Stories give identity to communities and help them to converve their history.
A good story can change your life. That's mostly how the Bible works on us. We get caught up in its stories, and we somehow come to see those stories as metaphors of our own personal stories.
This series will explore lots of stories, Biblical and non-biblical, searching for meaning and direction. Some of them have been read and heard many times before, and others will be heard or read for the first time.
Read, listen, explore with us. May you come to a greater sense of your own story, and may you come to a place of yielding your story completely into God's hands.
