SERVANTS OF WORSHIP MINISTRY
SERVANTS OF WORSHIP
USHERS
A church usher is an officer of the church that introduces visitors to the church by meeting them with a pleasant smile, a warm welcome, and directions to comfortable seats. Helps the Pastor service a success by putting the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive the message and seeing to perfect order is maintained in and around the church at all times during the services.
Additionally, Ushers are forerunners, for they prepare the church for the guests by being the first to arrive at the church; they receive the order of the day from the Pastor; they see that the church is in proper condition to receive the guest; they see that hymnals, fans, church literature, collection envelopes, and any other items that are to be distributed to the congregation are in their proper places. Church ushers are missionaries for the church for they perpetuate the spirit throughout the congregation.
GREETER
The first job of the greeter is to make visitors feel welcome in our house with a smile on our face, the first face you see. A greeter must have a love for people, and know how to welcome all people. As greeters, they prepare visitors to be ushered to their seat.
A church greeter is a friendly, happy person, and one that loves God, and his people. A church greeter bridges the gap of communication to visitors, new comers and members. Greeters are the front line of hospitality. The Greeters are vital “ministers” (servants) to the local church. The Greeters represent Christ, our pastors and the New World Family
1st Peter 1:22; To warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified. Romans 15:7 Greeters are needed to express who god is, God is love!
COMMUNION
Those who serve communion are crucial members of the entire servants of worship ministry. It was during the age-old celebration of the Passover on the eve of His death that Jesus instituted a significant new fellowship meal that we observe to this day. It is an integral part of Christian worship. It causes us to remember our Lord’s death and resurrection and to look for His glorious return in the future.
BAPTISM
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the word. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in His mission. Those that serve on this ministry are entrusted a beautiful and magnificent gift.
