EVANGELISM GUIDE for NewWorld Church Scriptural Mandate for Inviting Others to Your Church and to the Door (Jesus) of the Kingdom of God - “Jesus came near and spoke to them, “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” (Matthew 28:18-20, Common English Bible Translation)
- “… you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8)
What's the #1 Reason Why People Join a Church?Because they were invited by someone in the church! A Powerful Fact About Church Attendance in the Greater Houston Area: There are 5 million people in the Greater Houston Area. On any given Sunday, only 400,000 (less than 10%) attend a church. So, even with all of the great, mega-ministries in the Greater Houston Area (Lakewood, Second Baptist, Windsor Village, New Light Church, Church Without Walls, Church of the Woodlands, St. John’s UMC Downtown, etc.), there is still a SIGNIFICANT need for churches to reach people with the good news about Jesus Christ and The Kingdom of God! This fact implies, also, that MILLIONS of people in Houston are looking for a different kind of experience from the church. If they were looking for status quo they would already be in the mega-ministries listed above.
