ABOUT THE NEW WORLD CHURCH

New World Church is on the west side of Houston, located at 3330 S. Dairy Ashford, between Richmond and Westpark, in a ballroom facility called The Villa. This new church began as a joint initiative of Windsor Village UMC and the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Robert Johnson, who served associate at Windsor Village UMC for 10 years and has been an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church for 12 years, serves as the Lead Pastor with the loyal support of his wife, Linda, and their two daughters, Giselle and Kayla. Linda is also a financial manager with the Hydrogen Division of Shell Oil where she has been employed for 18 years.

The name of our church - New World - is taken from the biblical theme of the Kingdom of God which Jesus proclaimed to be "at hand" (Mark 1:15) and which the Book of Revelation says is the goal toward which all of creation is moving (Revelation 21:1-5). The people who have come together to form the initial fellowship of New World Church believe that we are to proclaim, celebrate, anticipate, and demonstrate this Kingdom as the "New World" which God is making (Matthew 6:9-13, 33).

New World Church is envisioned as a community of risk-taking love, Biblical honesty and truth, perpetual openness to Holy-Spirit-inspired surprises, perpetual mission, genuine relationships, passion for the arts, joyful worship, and great music! We are particularly passionate about embracing people who have never really found a church to call "home."
